Afghan asylum seeker who raped, killed and drowned a 19-year-old medical student in Germany to be tried as an adult

German medical student killed by Afghan asylum seeker

With the rate in which criminals disguises as asylum seekers just to get into Europe and America, one could say that President Donald Trump’s stance on immigration ban against certain countries in the terror watch list should be commended and adopted by other western nations, so that only those who are genuinely in need of such help should be allowed in after going through the vetting processes.

Here is an Afghan asylum seeker who is being arrested for raping and killing a German medical student who would have perhaps brought positive change to the Germany and the world in general. But after being arrested for the said crime, he was trying to lie about his age claiming to be a teenager, just to subvert justice.

But the good news is that the government after making series of investigation have found out that he was at least 22 years old as at when he committed the heinous crime, and not 17 as he claims, thus he would be charged as an adult.

The late Maria Ladenburger was raped and murdered while rendering a voluntary service to help migrants in different shelters and homes last year October close to the southwestern Germany city of Freiburg, where her corpse was found.

The 19-year-old medical student was ambushed, raped and drowned while cycling home from a party on the night she was gruesomely murdered.

As result of her gruesome death, there was a serious uproar in the country that made almost everyone to breed untold hatred towards refugees.

But much investigations, the police apprehended Hussein Khavari, as his DNA was linked to traces found at the scene of the crime. But to when interrogated, the assailant lied by claiming he was just 17 years old, so that he could serve a maximum sentence if found guilty at the end.

But his claim was debunked after an age report commissioned set by the prosecutor’s office discovered he was not in way less than 22 as at the time of the crime.

As part of the investigation into his age, German authorities used X-ray images of the suspect’s clavicle and tarsal bones, which were studied in detail.

The results of the investigation will now clear the way for Khavari to be tried as an adult - where he faces a life sentence.

Investigation about his real age came up after the German government found out that Khavari had declared himself a 17-year-old unaccompanied minor in 2013, when travelling from Greece to Germany.

Unknown to German government, the suspect had in the past been given a 10-year sentence in a Greek prison, after he was convicted of throwing a 20-year-old student 25 feet down a cliff in Corfu.

But he failed to report to parole officers in Greece following his early release from a detention centre, and a countrywide search warrant had been issued.

Thus, German authorities slammed Greece for “negligence” in sharing details of Khavari's past, saying this knowledge may have saved Maria Ladenburger’s life.
