Nigerians mount pressure on Jonathan to contest 2019 presidential election

Goodluck Jonathan

It is a popular saying that people do not value what they have until they lose it.

Had Jonathan not conceded defeat and handed over honourably, by now people would have been saying Buhari is the Messiah that would have brought the ‘needed change’, but now everybody is regretting voting him into power, because they made religion and ethnic interests priority, instead of national interest.

Accordingly, former president Goodluck Jonathan has made known how Nigerians are putting pressure on him to contest for the 2019 presidential election, so he can at least bring Nigeria back to the state it was before President Buhari took over.

It was further reported calls within and outside the country were being made on a daily basis in that regard. This revelation came while he was addressing his kinsmen, as they paid him a courtesy visit to mark the festive season in his village in Otueke, Bayelsa State.

Also, among those urging him to contest are members and chieftains of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). They believe it was the party who failed in the 2015 general elections and not the former president.

Nevertheless, irrespective of all the pressures from various quarters, the former president has made it clear that, such is not in his mind, that he had done his best for the country while in office.
