Buhari denies inflicting socio-economic hardship on Nigerians

Udo Udoma

The insensitivity of the President Buhari APC led federal government takes a new twist, as the government which had brought untold hardship to the people in every sphere of the society (private sector and the civil service) denies being responsible for the current hardship (recession).

The statement was made via the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udo Udoma, during a media chat with some journalists immediately after the last meeting of the National Economic Council for the year at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Rather, the Minister claimed that the president is working round the clock to rescue the country from the current economic woe.

But the question being asked by Nigerians are: how can the country move forward with the crop of ‘square pegs in round holes’ as ministers?

Since Buhari came into office as President, the local currency has never been stable, inflation has risen from single digit to a record high, port-folio investors are fleeing the country, thus creating colossal unemployment nationwide, to mention, but a few.
