Ize-Iyamu allowed to inspect electoral materials, as INEC set up tribunal

Finally, the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting sitting in Benin City has conceded a request for the People's Democratic Party and its hopeful, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to review all the electoral materials utilized by the Independence National Electoral Commission for the carrying out of the September 28 Edo State governorship race.

At the end of the INEC declared Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressive Congress winner of the race against his rivals after he polled more than 319, 483 votes to annihilation Pastor Ize-Iyamu who surveyed 253,173 votes.

The request by the tribunal took after an ex-parte movement documented by Counsel to the PDP and Pastor Ize-Iyamu, Barr. Kingsley Obamogie

According to Barr. Obamogie the movement was in consistence with segment 151 of the Electoral Act, 2010 as altered which he depended on to ask the court to give them the request to assess the INEC materials.

The tribunal chairman, Hon. Equity .A. Badamasi conceded the request in the wake of listening the contention of Obamogie.

While other members are Justices E.A. Ade Sodun, and Hon. Khadi Adamu Usman who are to serve as members.


Obamogie said, “In compliance with the section 151 of the Electoral Act of 2010 as amended, we have approached and pray the court to grant us the permission to inspect all the Electoral, materials used by INEC in the just concluded Edo State Governorship Election”.
