A 300 level undergraduate student of the University of Ilorin withdraws after giving his life to Jesus Christ, as he confessed to have cheated in his WASSCE

Boy withdraws from Unilorin

One Jephtaph Abolarin, a three hundred level Sociology undergraduate student had kept in touch with the Authorities of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, admitting to deceiving amid his West African Senior School Certificate Examination and looking for his withdrawal from the school.

In any case, the school authorities said on Sunday that they had acknowledged the intentional withdrawal of the student from the university.

Abolarin, who assured of his new experience as a born again Christian, said going ahead with his undergraduate studies, utilizing an outlandish certificate was out of line and indecent, subsequently the need to leave the establishment.

Abolarin presented the letter to the establishment's Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Sidiqat Ijaiya, on August 5, 2016.

In the letter, he said it was practical to pull back from the school since he got his WASSCE through examination misconduct.

The university’s Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, affirmed the withdrawal yesterday.

Akogun, while noticing that the Senate of the institution had acknowledged the withdrawal letter, included that the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, complimented Abolarin for his apology and genuineness.

Some portion of Abolarin's letter peruses, “Just as a house that was built on a faulty foundation will surely collapse, it is also certain that a career that is built on a faulty foundation will definitely collapse.

“All through my secondary school days, I was just a church ‘goer’, without genuine salvation and the fear of God. As a result, I got my WASSCE result through examination malpractice.

“By the grace of God, now, I have encountered the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which called for repentance and restitution.

“Sir, with deep conviction, I have realised that there is no point building my academic career on a faulty foundation; since the WASSCE result I got through malpractice is the basis in which my admission into this university was anchored.


“Therefore, I have decided to withdraw from the university and start all over again.”
