The Nigerian Police cordoned off entrance leading to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

It was reported by the New Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the Stadium is the arranged venue for the planned governorship primary of the Ali Modu Sheriff led faction of the PDP.

Edo State Commissioner of Police in the State, Chris Eziken made clear that “ I am not INEC. It is too early to find out if the primary will hold or not. You can call me back in the afternoon to find out.”

Moreover, as at press time, the INEC declined to ascertain if it would witness the exercise or not, as the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Sam Olumekun said he was not in the position to comment on the matter.

A member of the Modu Sheriff led Caretaker Committee, who spoke on condition of anonymity stated that the scheduled primary would be held as planned, but they are searching for an alternate venue.

Though the Ahmed Markafi led faction of the PDP had its primary at the same venue on 20 June, and produced Pastor Osagie Izu-Iyamu as its candidate.
