Pandemonium as a group known as
Islamic police took over the marriage ceremony of the daughter of Nigerians
former speaker of the House of Representatives and current governor of Sokoto
State last week, where musical instruments meant to be used for the ceremony
were seized, on the ground that they contravened the Sharia law.
According to eye-witnesses, the
said Islamic police, popularly known as Hisbah, stormed the venue of the
pre-wedding dinner, accusing the organisers for playing songs that are
repugnant to Islamic law. Though the DJ was not arrested as he swiftly escaped
for his dear life.
Dignitaries who attended the
wedding ceremony were: The Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
Babachir Lawal, Defence Minister, Mansur Dan-Ali, as well as the Minister of
State, Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
The governor’s daughter Aisha
Tambuwal is now married to her beau, Muhammad Mangal, which took place on
December 31 2016.
