Sheriff begs Jonathan to intervene in PDP leadership crisis

The peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headed by the two warring factions are serious making frantic efforts to end their differences as the various camps are seeking for the intervention of the senior stake-holders to save the party from extinction.

The group of the beleaguered National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen Ali Modu Sheriff, has connected with previous President, Goodluck Jonathan, in an offer to bring to an end the leadership crisis presently shaking the party.

The divulgence was made after a meeting between Senator Buruji Kashamu and Sheriff in Abuja on the most proficient method to end the fracas in the party.

A previous South-South Deputy National Chairman of the party, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh while talking with Vanguard said the Sheriff group will meet with the former president with a perspective to ending the party's leadership tussle.

While speaking on the proposed meeting with Jonathan, Ojougboh said, “Yes, the immediate past President is from my zone, the South-South and he is one of my leaders, I respect him, I love his candor. I love him as a human being and yes I have been in contact with him and he is also equally looking for a balanced position. He is man that every Nigerian loves.”

He said Sheriff still keeps up his prior position that he be permitted to pick the individuals who will direct the party's national convention while the Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ahmed Makarfi and his group steps down.


Ojougboh further said “What Sheriff has said and he has repeated it before everybody, is let Makarfi and his group step down. I will step down and will join and nominate persons to conduct the convention which is what a gentleman can do. And now he said look anybody who goes to Port Harcourt is on his own because he knows what the Emperor of Ikwere would do,”
