President Buhari has been accused by the United Niger Delta
Energy Development Security Strategy (UNDEDSS) of working towards the
disintegration of the country by continuously deploying the military to the
Niger Delta region, emphasising that the president should following the
strategy of the Yar’Adua/Jonathan regime in tackling the Niger Delta crises.
The Secretary General of the organisation, Tony Uranta
un-behalf of the group stressed that the current government is not taking the
unity of the country seriously with the way sensitive issues are being handled
He further stressed that the people of the region has
unanimously determined to resist any other attempt by the federal government to
toy with the future and unity of Nigeria by continuing to deploy the military
in the Niger Delta maliciously.
Despite the fact that the nation is being fed by the
resources of Niger Delta people, there is nothing to show for the over 50 years
of oil and gas exploration, worst of it all was the cancellation of the only
Nigeria Maritime University that was billed to start academic session this year
by the present administration.
