Notwithstanding the fact that Ali Modu Sheriff’s camp of the
opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have had some of their loyalist
decamped to the Ahmed Makarfi led Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Senator
Sheriff still maintained his position saying that he has not entered into any
accord with anyone to let go of his position as the Party’s Chairman.
Dr Cairo Ojuogboh who was the previous Deputy national
Chairman, asserted Senator Sheriff has authorised him to inform the media in
Abuja Saturday that sheriff has not finalised any procedure to permit him relinquish
his position.
It would be reviewed that the PDP, had at its extended
national gathering meeting on Thursday in Abuja said that the attendance of
Sen. Buruji Kashamu, a solid supporter of Sheriff was a confirmation that its
compromise exertion was gaining ground.
In any case, Dr Cairo released the declaration, saying that
the cases in court would be sought after to their conclusion.
He said: “I have the express permission of Sheriff to inform
our teeming supporters and PDP faithful nation wide that he has not reach
agreement with anybody, neither has he permitted anybody to conclude on any
processes on his behalf.
“We are continuing with our cases in court, we respect the
rule of law. Sheriff will address a press conference on Monday on the state of
our party, PDP. Our goal remains to return the party to the people and stamp
out impunity.”
As according to him, the issues that prompted the emergency
in the gathering which Senator Sheriff is attempting to address have not been
determined.
