Finally, Governor Wike and Amaechi reconciles

Wike reconciles with Amaechi

About two years ago, some persons predicted that the purported power tussle for the soul of Rivers State between the then Minister of State for Education and now governor of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom E. Wike and Ex-Governor and now Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi was like the Chameleon’s skin, that something was dodgy somewhere, which shall be revealed in the fullness of time. But some of us ignored it vehemently and even lost some friends and family members because of peanuts being given to us by these politicians.

Yours truly, the prediction is gradually coming to pass, as Governor Wike announced the peace meeting attended by him and Rotimi Amaechi at the instance of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris and the DSS, because of his commitment to peace and development of the state.

According to sources, the IGP prearranged a peace meeting for both parties to bury their differences.

Governor Wike while addressing some PDP supporters in Degema Local Government Area, for the Rivers West Senatorial District election coming up, stressed that he is fully committed to the outcome of the peace meeting.

Here are some of his statements “I was at the peace meeting because we love peace and want the state to move forward. I signed an undertaking on your behalf that we are prepared for INEC credible, free and fair elections.

“It is not in our position to have crisis because we are the ones losing.”

He further pledged that the state government would partner with security agencies to ensure that peaceful elections were held in the state, adding that anybody who wanted the state to be set ablaze would be disappointed.

Wike expressed regret that some politicians were celebrating that the elections were postponed.

The Governor also used the to occasion to point out that he is committed that Rivers State should have representatives at the National Assembly because the people of the state had been shut out on the deliberation of the Petroleum Industry Bill and other legislation.

The governor, however, called on the PDP members to remain vigilant while expecting the rerun elections.

According to him, Nigerians know, the world knows that Rivers State is the PDP. So shall it be forever.

Every rational human being want to live at peace with all men, but when it comes to political issues with two or more persons, the masses should be very careful with themselves in siding any warring party because at the end of the day there will always be a mid-point where either party will call for a reconciliation to protect his/her political interest. As they say, ‘politics is a game of interest’, with no permanent friend nor enemy.
