Chief Olisa Metuh said today (Thursday) that he was ready to return his
share of N400 million of the $2.1 billion arms deal.
The said cash was supposedly diverted to purposes by the Offices of the
National Security Adviser during Sambo’s tenure. Metuh was said to have
confessed that he has had enough legal struggles.
It was revealed that Metuh had been in series of discussions with the
Ministry of Justice, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and
other relevant agencies on how to return the N400 million and get the issue
resolved.
This offer by the immediate past National
Publicity Secretary of the PDP was made known in a statement through his
counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN).
He asserted that though the cash was given
to him by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, he does not have any knowledge about
the source as at when it was given to him. He further said that since the EFCC
presented a documentary evidence on the source of the money in court, he is
ready to willingly refund the money.
Thus, Metuh has made manifest his readiness
to refund the money and has been approaching family members, friends and
associate to mobilise resources to refund the entire N400 million to the federal
government irrespective of the point that the money spent according to the
directives of former President Goodluck Jonathan, while part of the money had
been recovered from one of the prosecution witnesses.
