"Everybody is poised, waiting to see what the language is of this version of the Muslim ban, and we’ll go from there.

"Because until you see the specific language it’s difficult to react."

During his campaign, Trump promised to temporarily ban all Muslims from entering the United States as an apparent measure to combat terrorism.

"Donald J Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on," he said at the time.

He later appeared to backtrack when the pledged disappeared from his website.

Trump then suggested he would target specific countries rather than a religion which claims more than 1.6billion people worldwide.

"When I am elected, I will suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats," Mr Trump said in a June 2016 speech.

But following the Berlin terror attack in December, Trump's hardline stance returned.

"You know my plans all along and I’ve been proven to be right," he told reporters.


"100 per cent correct. What’s happening is disgraceful."

Speaking to Sky's Diplomatic Editor, Dominic Waghorn, said: "His critics will say it's not putting America first because free trade is good for America, as it is for the rest of the world.

"It allows cheap goods to go to America (and) allows America to export its goods to the Pacific Rim countries more effectively."

Also speaking, White House press secretary Sean Spicer stated in his daily press briefing: "When you enter into these multi-national agreements, you're allowing any country, no matter the size, to have the same stature as the United States in the agreement."

Mr Spicer added that such arrangements were "not always in the best interests of the United States", saying that bi-lateral agreements would be pursued instead.

"This is a strong signal that the Trump administration wants free and fair trade throughout the world," he told reporters.

Asked by Sky's US Correspondent, Cordelia Lynch, why Theresa May will be the first foreign leader to meet President Trump in Washington on Friday, Mr Spicer said: "I think we've always had that special relationship with Britain, and that reflects in the Prime Minister's first visit here.

"He's had a great conversation with her, and he looks forward to having her here, but we can always be closer."

In a move to bring sanity to the country as he promised during his presidential campaign, Mr Trump has signed two other executive orders.

One bans US non-governmental organisations that receive federal funding from providing abortions abroad.

While the other imposes a freeze on federal hiring.

French Polynesia government sign MOU with an American firm to construct world’s first floating city in the middle of the Pacific Ocean

ABC’s report the government of the islands has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the San Francisco-based institute.

Though, more studies will undertaking as a result of the proposed city with regard to the economic and environmental effect of the project and its legal implications.

According to Randolph Hencken, executive director of the institute: "What we're interested in is societal choice and having a location where we can try things that haven't been tried before.

"I don't think it will be that dramatically radical in the first renditions.

"We were looking for sheltered waters, we don't want to be out in the open ocean - it's technologically possible but economically outrageous to afford.

"If we can be behind a reef break, then we can design floating platforms that are sufficient for those waters at an affordable cost.

"We don't have to start from scratch as this is a pilot project.

"They also have very stable institutions so we're able to work with a government that wants us there that we have respect for and they have respect for us."

Mr Hencken is confident the government of French Polynesia will support his firm's efforts: "We are confident there will be both a direct and an indirect benefit for them economically.

"They are a tourist-based economy and they're excited to bring us in because we are a technology-based idea."


After initial studies, it is hoped draft legislation will be drawn up next year and construction can begin in 2019.
