2016/2017 Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) Bursary Award Scheme

Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) - In promoting and supporting academic scholarship among the youth of the mandate areas, the Commission since 2004 has been giving scholarship /busary awards to indigenes of Ondo State government areas in tertiary institutions of learning. In this regard, the commission will be awarding bursaries/Scholarships to over 50,000 beneficiaries this year.

This is to notify all indigenes of Ondo State and Ondo State Oil Producing Areas in tertiary institutions of learning in the country that application for the OSOPADEC 2016/2017 Bursary/Scholarship Scheme is now out.

Application for 2016/2017 Bursary/Scholarship Award

Eligibility
  • Applicants must be indigenes of the Oil Producing Areas of Ondo State.
  • They must be bonafide students of recognized Tertiary Institutions within the country in the 2016/2017 Academic year.
  • Postgraduate and Law school students are also eligible for the scheme (2016/2017 Academic year).
  • Part-time/Sandwich, Pre-degree, NTI, Certificate/Diploma students are NOT eligible for the Award.
  • Please note that the bursary award runs only for the normal duration of study of each course.
  • Applicants are mandated to use their personal Bank Account details.
  • Late registration will not be entertained.
  • Dishonesty, multiple registrations, fraud and malpractice of any form will attract outright disqualification.

  • Applicants are to click on the link above to commence registration.
  • Applicants are to fill the Fresh Application Form and submit online.
  • Online processing fee of N1000 will charged using debit cards.
  • Once the Payment is successful, Login to your profile page to complete your details by providing your Bank details and your Academics details.
  • Download and Print your Online Acknowledgement Card after succesful payment for verification.

University of British Colombia Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Programme

The University of British Columbia is pleased to partner with The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program to provide comprehensive scholarships to students from Sub-Saharan Africa. The Program provides access to education for academically talented, yet economically marginalized young people.



Scholars in the Program have a demonstrated commitment to giving back to their communities and develop the leadership needed to contribute to social and economic transformation across the continent.

Undergraduate:
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC for undergraduate students is open to first-time applicants who are residents and citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country. This program targets academically qualified, yet economically disadvantaged, young people in Africa who will contribute to the transformation of the continent.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for consideration as an undergraduate for The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at UBC, the nominee must:
·         Be a citizen of and residing in a Sub-Saharan African country;
·         Present economically disadvantaged financial circumstances, and be able to show they lack financial means from family or other sources to pursue post-secondary (university) education in their home country or elsewhere;
·         Have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances, and show leadership qualities or potential;
·         Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to giving back to his/her home community in ways that enhance the economic growth and social development of Africa, through engagement in activities outside the classroom, in the school and/or community;
·         Be graduating/recently graduated from a recognized senior secondary school;
·         Be applying for their first undergraduate degree in one of the following Faculties at UBC’s Vancouver campus:
o    Faculty of Arts
o    Faculty of Applied Science (Engineering)
o    Faculty of Forestry (Bachelor of Science in Forestry)
o    Faculty of Land & Food Systems (including Global Resource Systems; Food, Nutrition & Health; Applied Biology [Applied Animal Biology, Applied Plant & Soil Sciences or Food & the Environment])
o    Sauder School of Business (Bachelor of Commerce)
·         Be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian Study Permit;
·         Commit to returning to Africa immediately after graduation from UBC in order to apply their training and skills to the betterment of others.

Graduate:
To be eligible for consideration for The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Masters’ Degree Program at UBC, the applicant must:
·         Have completed a Bachelor’s degree;
·         Be a citizen of and have lived a significant part of their life in a Sub-Saharan African country;
·         Present economically disadvantaged financial circumstances, and be able to show lack of financial means from family or other sources to pursue graduate education in their home country or elsewhere;
·         Have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances, and show leadership qualities or potential;
·         Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to giving back to his/her home community in ways that enhance the economic growth and social development of Africa, through engagement in activities in their current profession, university or community;
·         Be applying for a Master’s degree in one of the following Faculties and programs at UBC’s Vancouver campus;
o    Sauder School of Business
§  Full-Time MBA Programs
o    Faculty of Forestry
§  Master of Science (MSc)
§  Master of Applied Science (MASc)
§  Master of Sustainable Forest Management (MSFM)
§  Master of International Forestry (MIF)

·         Be a person who requires a Canadian study permit to study in Canada;

Nominations
When students are confirmed for nomination, their high school or recognized non-profit organization must use the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program nomination package.

Graduate Application:
Election of Scholars
·         A university-wide selection coordinating committee will award the scholarships to the top scholars based on the nominations from the faculties and a comprehensive review of the MCF scholarship application. All successful applicants will be notified by April 2017.
Please note the Deadline Date for Submissions:
1. MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Application NOVEMBER 6, 2016
2. UBC Faculty of Forestry and Faculty Land & Food Systems applications are due JANUARY 1, 2017.

2016 / 2017 Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Award Scheme

The Lagos State Scholarship Board is the agency in charge of scholarship, bursary and other related matters within the state. It grants Scholarship awards to deserving indigenes in various tertiary institutions for full time studies in order to assist these students financially.

Applications are invited for:

2016 / 2017 Lagos State Undergraduate Scholarship Award Scheme


Process for Eligibility for Local Under-Graduate Scholarship Award


  • All applicants must have gained full time admission into an accredited Nigerian tertiary Institution.
  • All Under-graduate applicants:
1.      Where CGPA scale is 7.0 (e.g University of Ibadan) he /she must possess a minimum of 4.9/7.0
2.      Where CGPA scale is 5.0 (e.g University of Lagos) he /she must possess a minimum of 3.5/5.0
3.      Where CGPA scale is 4.0 (e.g polytechnics and colleges of education) he /she must possess a Minimum of 2.8/4.0
4.      Where applicant is a medical student in 200L, option 1, 2 and 3 applies
5.      Where applicant is a medical student in 300L and above a minimum of Credit is required in their result
  • All applicants must be in their second year or above
  • All applicants must have completed LASRRA Registration
  • All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba
  • All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective local government
  • All applicants must purchase a Scholarship application form. (Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Block 5, 3rd Floor, Alausa Secretariat.
  • All applicants must upload clear scanned copies of all documents to ascertain the genuineness of their claims. Documents like:
    • Admission Letter
    • School Identity Card or Valid means of school identification
    • Letter of identification from Oba
    • Letter of identification from Local Government
    • SSCE result
    • Lagos State Resident Registration Agency(LASSRA) registration card
    • Passport Photograph (clear background not older than three months).
    • Transcript or Result statement duly signed and stamped from school stating previous session CGPA results clearly
  • Shortlisted applicant must participate in a Computer Based Test on 7th and 8th February, 2017 conducted by Dragnet Solutions Limited in conjunction with Lagos State Scholarship Board.
  • Successful tested applicants will be contacted for oral interview

How to apply

1.) Before you start this application, ensure you have purchased a Scholarship application form (Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Block 5, 3rd Floor, Alausa Secretariat then secure your Voucher pin from the Scholarship Board office. Thereafter, have clear scanned copies of the following documents:
  • Passport photograph with white background not more than 3 months old (450px by 450px not more than 200kb)
  • Treasury receipt of N2,000 for the scholarship form
  • Admission Letter
  • School Identity Card
  • SSCE Certificate
  • Letter of identification from Oba
  • Letter of identification from Local Government
  • LASSRA registration card
  • Transcript or Statement of Results duly signed and stamped from school stating previous session CGPA results clearly
2.) Ensure that information are filled accurately to avoid mix up after application
3.) Ensure the documents are named according to what they represent to avoid mixing up documents during upload
4.) Ensure you attach the appropriate documents when asked to upload

  • Click on "Apply Now" tab.
  • Click on "Register Now" to create an account.
  • Proceed to your email box to activate your account
  • Click on www.scholastica.ng to return to Scholarship site
  • Enter your registered email and password to upload your information.
  • Enter your personal information, additional information, educational information, other information and upload required scanned documents.
  • Ensure the name used in applications matches the names on all documentation in same order. Upload a sworn affidavit or certificate if otherwise.
  • Ensure you view all documents after uploading, to eliminate errors during uploading.
  • When asked to upload photo, upload a pass-port photograph with a white background.
  • Recheck application information to avoid errors
  • Click "Apply Now" to submit information and provide the secret voucher pin and LASSRA Number in the appropriate column
  • You will receive an email and a sms that confirms your application was successful.
  • Return to www.scholastica.ng, enter your Email and Password to download your profile and proceed to have your Head of Department sign the document.
  • Upload a scanned copy of the signed profile, this would be used for verification.
  • Keep the hard copy of the signed profile, this would also be used for verification.
  • Return to www.scholastica.ng and update application with National Identification Number (NIN) to ensure completion

2015 / 2016 Lagos State Postgraduate Scholarship Award Scheme


Process for Eligibility for Local Postgraduate Scholarship Award 

This scholarship scheme is for Lagos State indigenes only studying in any tertiary institution across the country.

1.) All applicants must have gained full time admission into an accredited Nigerian tertiary Institution for postgraduate studies (Masters or Doctorate).
2.) All Post-graduate applicants:
  • Where CGPA scale is 7.0 (e.g University of Ibadan) he /she must have graduated with a minimum of 4.9/7.0 at undergraduate level
  • Where CGPA scale is 5.0 (e.g University of Lagos) he /she must have graduated a minimum of 3.5/5.0 at undergraduate level
3.) All applicants must be in their first year or above
4.) All applicants must have completed LASRRA Registration
5.) All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective Oba
6.) All applicants must have a signed letter of identification from their respective local government
7.) All applicants must purchase a Scholarship application form. (Payment of N2,000.00 for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Block 5, 3rd Floor, Alausa Secretariat.
