DRAMA as WAEC students forgot cheating materials in answer booklets

WAEC

WAEC: In a bid to hurriedly submit their answer booklets, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has shown that some students who were involved in examination malpractices forgot to remove their materials used for the unwholesome act in their answer booklet

This was disclosed to Punch newspaper by the Public Relations Officer of WAEC, Demianus Ojijeogu, who stated how the examination body is fighting tirelessly to stop or reduce drastically the rate of examination malpractice.

According to him, “We encounter malpractice during the examination and during marking. Some leave the expo in the answer booklets. We see that all the time. Others use other answer booklets different from the council’s own. But, we discover these things during marking because the booklets do not have our serial numbers and they are not usually signed by the supervisors. Supervisors usually sign the booklets before they are given to the candidates.

“We have been able to handle impersonation through our biometric process but there is still collusion where candidates will copy exactly the same answers usually dictated by a teacher. We have our invigilators but the number is limited. When you leave the centre or before we get there, they will do what they want.”

He further said that the council was still dealing with issues of conspiracy, which involved teachers abetting candidates during examination.

“We no longer make noise about examination malpractice because examination supervision is a hazardous job. When candidates engage in malpractice, we just take their number and they fill a form. Some of our workers have been held hostage, female supervisors have been harassed. It is a hazardous job,” he added.

ERECTNOPHOBIA: Poisonous spider which can cause 4 hours erection found in ASDA banana forces family to abandon their home

Deadly spider invades a home

The emergence of the world’s most poisonous spider has a family to quit their home due to the invasion of the spiders which they could not withstand.

The family of four (Ashley Gamble, his wife Sophia Newcombe along with their two daughters decided to leave their home after many of the creepie-crawlies surge out of a shell that was wedged to a bit of fruits which spilled on the soil onto the kitchen floor as they unloaded their shopping.

These Brazilian itinerant spiders are known to have a bite kill its victim within two hours and are regarded as the most poisonous on earth.

Its venom can likewise bring about an erection enduring up to FOUR HOURS in casualties.

According to the 28-year-old Forklift truck driver the scene resembled “something out of a horror movie”  – and is declining to come back to the house until Asda pays for it to be disinfected.

Asda rendered an apology saying the incident was to a great degree uncommon.

Be that as it may, Ashley, who is as of now staying with his folks alongside Sophia and their youngsters, raged: “They have just fobbed me off.

“When I first went in to complain my house was full of spiders they offered me a refund for the bananas, which only added insult to injury.

“Then a worker said, ‘Oh it’s ok – they’ll all die soon anyway’, which didn’t really help.

“It’ll cost hundreds of pounds to have the house fumigated and I just don’t have the money.

“There is no way we’re going back until the house is completely cleared.

“I just can’t risk it with the children.”

Sophia, 26, was unloading the family's shopping when she saw the cocoon on the banana and tossed it on the floor in frenzy.

Ashley lifted it up – and watched in stun as little creepy crawlies started tumbling out.

He said: “The nest was around the size of a 20p piece, and they were just falling out of it onto the floor.

“I grabbed the hoover and tried to suck up as many as I could, but they were running off everywhere.

“My partner was absolutely petrified. I gathered my family up straight away and we went next door.

“Then I called a pest control company, but they told me to contact Asda, who would sort out funding for the house to be fumigated.”

Ashley, who has little girls Isla Rose, two, and three-week old Amelia Lily, addressed his nearby store and was advised to get the banana wrapped in a plastic sack.

He included: “They just said it could take days to sort, and an investigation would have to be carried out.

“I got the impression they thought I was trying it on.

“But the four of us are sleeping in one room at my parents’ house.

“It needs sorting out as soon as possible.

“The thought of going back there is scary – these spiders can cause serious problems for adults, so imagine what a bite could do to a three-week-old baby.

“Sophia wants to move out permanently.

“Asda has infested my home with spiders because they haven’t checked their products properly, and now they aren’t willing to help out.

“It’s disgusting.”

A representative for Asda stated that : “We are in contact with Mr Gamble and would like to reassure all our customers that these types of incidents are extremely rare.

“All our bananas are washed and sprayed before they are transported to the UK and every single piece of fruit is manually checked for quality and stowaways.

“We sell one billion bananas every year and the chance of finding a spider is incredibly low, but very occasionally one hangs around to give us a fright.

“We are sorry for any upset this has caused and are keeping Mr Gamble updated throughout our investigation.”

Due to the heartlessness of the man, all efforts put by his defence in attempting to propose that the young lady had kicked the bucket outside the pool and not in the water, but rather this was rejected by the judges.

The mother little girl’s mum made frantic effort to save her daughter’s life by rushing her to the hospital after acknowledging she wasn't breathing and specialists affirmed she had kicked the bucket.

So far the family have gotten over £100,000 in benefits in the most recent year.

When Arnold inquired as to whether they anticipate adding to their eight-in number brood, Arnold replied: "You never know.

"When my eight children are working how much will the government be collecting in taxes from them? The government will benefit from us living here in better conditions.

"They have to live like any other children not in this kind of condition. It is like they're being ignored by the authority, like any other children they deserve respect and dignity, it's their right.

"I want to make a contribution to society, I don't like lazy people- my dad told me to work hard and I have always been.

"People should take responsibility when they're supposed to and Luton council had a responsibility to find us accommodation suitable for our needs."

Arnold uncovered he had £15,000 set aside from working at a distribution center in Paris - yet halted work when he moved to Luton in 2012.

According to him, the whole money were spent leasing an expansive five room house in Luton before swinging to the council for assistance.

It was also made known that Arnold, is presently studying to be a psychiatric medical attendant, said: "I came with £15,000, and I paid by myself but after a few months I applied for a house on benefits."
"I love working, I have been working for the last 13 years, my intention was just to live and study while my family were still in France but my wife couldn't do it."

"I lived with my friend and I was feeling very sad because the home I left was beautiful. It was a massive flat with a garden and the nicest place I have ever lived, it had a garden, a dining room, a lounge and six bedrooms.

"I rented a five bedroom house here to give my kids the same standard of life but I couldn't keep it.

"Everything I own I bought before moving to England, in Paris we lived a very different life."

He wondered why English family moving into Paris are given a rousing welcome with their rights being protected and is amazed why the same is not being reciprocated by the British government.

The plot to take over Nigeria thickens, as Alhaji Dangote wants NLNG sold

Dangote

Multi-billion dollar business mogul and Africa’s riches man Alhaji Dangote in an interview with CNBC Africa suggested measures that can be taken by the Buhari led federal government to take the country out of the current economic recession.

Amid the media chat with CNBC Africa, Dangote suggested to the government to sell off one of Nigeria’s major asset, the Nigerian Natural Liquified Gas (NLNG) company along with other national assets, which are deemed dormant, that generates has the capacity to accrue huge income the nation. He further suggested that proceeds of such sales should be ploughed back into the economy before the year runs out.

Find below excerpts of Dangote’s statements:
“The only way for us to get out of this recession is to make sure we move into action quickly; action by diversifying the economy quickly.

“If I had challenges in my company, I would not hesitate to sell assets, to remain afloat, to get to the better times, because it doesn’t make any sense for me to keep any assets and then suffocate the whole organisation.

“What we need to do now in my own thinking… we have a lot of assets to sell. We can sell part of the joint venture; part of the shares. You know government normally owns 60 percent.

“We can sell in an open tender be it Chinese. We can change the term and make it an operating one, just like what we have in NLNG. We also have another asset I think we don’t really need.

“The African finance corporation; it can fetch them $800million easily. My own suggestion before was that they should even sell 100 percent of NLNG. I don’t think government should be in any business of investing in sectors of LNG.

“A company like that, with earnings of $1.5 billion on the average, they should get anywhere between $12 billion and $15 billion.”

“You will not believe that the crisis that we have today, if we have $15 billion, adding it to our $25 billion, that is $40 billion reserves. That will give confidence, confidence will come back, then government will back it up with proper economic policy, where people can see the roadmap.

“Latest by fourth quarter, we will be out of recession. It should be a partnership between government and private sector. We have all the answers, Nigeria falling into recession does not really scare me, if we take action.”

“Once we can sell assets, and put $15 billion together, you’d be very shocked at how much the dollar will actually drop, you can easily see 250. What is happening today is mere speculation.

“To currency, everybody will speculate, banks will speculate, companies will speculate, individuals will speculate, because if you have money, you want to send in from abroad you will keep sending in trickles.

“If you know that CBN has $40 billion in reserves today, if you have $100,000, you might even sell it forward because you know that this rate is going to crash and you must quickly sell it.”

Dangote’s advice is coming at a time the Federal Government said it is set to release a fresh N350bn to finance capital projects, a move aimed at resuscitating the dwindling economy.

But questions being asked by many Nigerians are: is the NLGN really dormant? If such assets are to be sold indeed, can they be done within a short period of time, and the proceeds used as suggested? Considering the shortness of time, will due process be followed to the latter? Is it that the Northern cabals want to use him as a shield to buy all the assets that matters to the nation? These and many more questions need to be given genuine answers to convince Nigerians beyond reasonable doubt that this call has no ulterior motive attached to it, considering the meagre amount former President hurriedly sold of the nation’s refinaries, before late President Yar’Adua reversed such dubious sales.
