Theresa May’s government has
finally dismissed the over 1.8 million signatures signed, requesting the
British government to disallow the President of the United States Donald J. Trump.
Responding to the petition, the
British government said though it recognises the agitation of the people, but
stated that “the president of the United States should be extended the full
courtesy of a state visit,” and further said “we look forward to welcoming
President Trump once dates and arrangements are finalized.”
Though the petition would still
be debated by British MPs February 20.
Trump’s invitation to the UK was
announced by May in January when she paid a visit to the president, which he
also accepted.
While the date for the visit has
not been confirmed, according to local media it is likely to be slated for the
summer to avoid controversy over whether Trump should address parliament.
