The Queen of England finally seen in public as she attends church service for the first time after falling ill before the festive season

Her Majesty

Joy in the atmosphere as Her Majesty the Queen was finally seen attending church in Sandringham since she became ill before the festive season. Recall how Her Majesty could not attend the traditional Christmas and New Year Services due to heavy cold, which gave serious apprehensions for her health.

The Queen was seen dressed on royal blue during the church service. Included in her entourage were the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duke of Duchess of Cambridge, and senior royals.

The Queen was being greeted by a crowd of people while being driven to the church with Prince Philip who also fall ill before the festive season in a burgundy Bentley.

While Kate and William were seen as they walked the short distance from the house to the church, with no sign of Prince George or Princess Charlotte.

Irrespective of her inability to attend the various traditional church services and non-public appearance due to ill health, the Queen was still able to carry out other official assignments. She presented Ray Wheaton, her Page of the Chambers, with the insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order, the court circular recorded.

There was applause from well-wishers as the Queen left the church after the service.

Colin Bunn, 70, of Snettisham, Norfolk, said: "We live locally so we come to Sandringham quite frequently and were here on Christmas Day.

"She looked beautiful and came down the steps unaided."

His wife Pam, 67, said: "She looked good. She had a lovely outfit on and looked well."

After more than six decades on the throne, the queen has cut back on international tours and Buckingham Palace said last month she would step down as patron of several charities and other organisations to reduce her workload.
