The burning desire to have
maximum fun in his life time compelled Nigel Johnson to engage himself in a special diet in order to shed some weight. His inability to pull the safety
restraint down by himself also contributed to his decision, though he loved going
on his favourite ride.
But today Johnson who hitherto
could not get along on his favourite roller-coaster has been able to shed 10
stones.
Having travelled all the way from
the United Kingdom to the Walt Disney World in Florida, United States, was so obsessed
to go on roller coaster ride, but was disappointed when he discovered he could
not pull the safety restraint all by himself.
Nigel, who had ballooned to more
than 22 stone, joined Weight Watchers, started exercising and stopped
"drinking excessively". Astonishingly, he lost 10 stone, 5lbs, in
only 14 months. Which has now, made him to weigh just over 12 stone - and looks
remarkably different.
"Going to Disney World
Florida, getting onto one of my favourite rides and not being able to get the
restraint down. That probably triggered wanting to lose weight," Nigel
explains in YES, a new video by Weight Watchers celebrating four people who
have lost a combined total of more than 27 stone.
"Before joining Weight
Watchers I used to eat anything and everything around me," Nigel said.
"I used to drink
excessively, but now I don't drink at all unless it's a special occasion.
"Looking into the mirror
wasn't the easiest thing. I tried to avoid it.
"Then all of a sudden I
started exercising. I'd never exercised before."
As a result his doggedness, Nigel
knew he had reached his target weight when he was able to look at himself in
the mirror again. He had lost almost half of his body weight.
"Now I'm quite happy looking
into the mirror and seeing someone different," he said.
Today, Nigel is a keen gym-goer
who rows, lifts weights and does aerobics.
He added: "I used to be a
couch potato, but now I love going to the gym and tracking my exercise goals. I
can't think of anything better to do than work on my physique.
"I'm now so much more active
and can do so much more without getting breathless!"
Nigel said he feels happy and
proactive, and is looking forward to taking on new challenges.
"If you don't see results on
the scales, it's OK. You should never feel let down, because a non-scale
victory is as rewarding as a scale victory," he said.
The next time he goes to Florida,
he can sit back and enjoy the rides - and not have to worry about fitting into
them.
