Cuban migrants

At last, U.S. President Barack Obama brings to an end a longstanding policy which gives residency to Cuban nationals who came to the U.S. illegally.

The 20-year-old strategy permits Cuban migrants who reached US soil to have legal status and become permanent residents after one year.

In return, Havana has consented to begin tolerating Cubans who are dismissed or expelled from the US.

Numerous Cubans in the US say Washington is compensating an administration which has neglected to address human rights concerns.

Be that as it may, President Obama is attempting to proceed with the defrosting of relations with Cuba in his last days of office.

He stated: "With this change we will continue to welcome Cubans as we welcome immigrants from other nations, consistent with our laws."

In an announcement on state TV, the Cuban government praised the move as "an important step in advancing relations'' between the US and Cuba.

Thus, it is misty where relations between the two nations will go now.

Mr Obama's successor, President-elect Donald Trump, has taken a much harder position and could invert the change.

As of recently, the supposed "wet foot, dry foot" strategy has connected exclusively to Cubans, a huge number of whom reached US soil a year ago, including via land.

Foreigners from different nations who go to the US without a visa could be captured and ousted.

more to keep individuals from manhandling the framework - is the best thing to do."
