Wole Soyinka has resorted to transferring his frustration to
the Nigerian public for making a promise that he found difficult to fulfil.
Respected writer and Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka,
says he will hold a private memorial service on January 20 when United States
President-elect, Donald Trump, is initiated as President.
Soyinka, who talked in Lagos on Monday, clarified that the
burial service is not to grieve with the subjects of the US over their decision
of president yet to grieve the passing of Nigeria's judgment skills.
“Our common sense is totally lost. I am embarrassed
sometimes that I occupy the same nation space with some people,” he said.
He additionally said Nigerians did not have the privilege to
question his own choice to tear his US green card, which he later said, rather
than tearing it, he ‘threw’ it away.
