Things fall apart in the ruling APC as Tinubu and his loyalists consider another political party

Tinubu and Buhari

What goes around, comes around they said. During the 2015 general elections, politicians from the South-West paved way for an incompetent, clueless, religious bigot who wanted to be president at all cost just to implement the winner takes it all and born to rule mentality. But folks from the South-West were told to have a rethink of dangers ahead but the likes of Tinubu and his cohorts would not listen, even when the Apex Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural group AFENIFERE issued the warning, it all went on to deaf ears.

These crop of greedy politicians betrayed the then president Goodluck Jonathan via several propaganda, calling him all manner of names, an act which some called ‘civilian coup’ and manipulated Buhari into the seat of power. Today for the first time Nigerians are practically experiencing economic recession due to his greedy and visionless regime.

Less than two into APC led Buhari federal government, most of the South-West leaders of the APC are not regretting their actions, but sorry, it is too late.

Thus, the national leader of the party along with some of his loyalist in the APC are considering a plan B, just to ensure they take over power in 2019. But the question is, can the South-West alone vote themselves into Aso Rock without their South-East and South-South brothers after betraying them to the Hausa/Fulanis who are never tired of being in control of political power in the Villa?

As part of their desperate move, a senator representing Oyo South, Senator Adesoji Akanbi, has told Nigerians that they would soon see the outcome of the new political alliances.

According to Akanbi, some big wings in the APC who have been uncomfortable with the way they have been neglected after the party was voted into power are beginning to weigh other available options.

“You know that ambition can drive people and a lot of people, when it comes to amalgamation like that of the APC, some people may feel cheated and may not be happy with the outcome of the whole thing. It is normal,” he told Punch.

“There is no way you can form a new party in a room. Nigerians should not be too eager to see the outcome of such (secret and closed-door) meetings because they are still coming out to the public to canvass for support. Let us all wait and see.”

“Personally, someone like me is a committed member of the APC and I still have my leader.

“Politics is about the grassroots. You have to know what your people want before you can decide on what to do. I am from the South-West and we have a way of doing our thing. We still have a leader.”

“I have not mentioned any name but whatever it is, it is going to be a collective decision. Personally, I am an advocate of regional integration. When I say regional, I am particular about the South-West, where I come from.”

Many followers of politics know all is not well within the APC and there are speculations that a national leader, Bola Tinubu, may lead his loyalists out of the party for a new alliance.

Tinubu, a former Lagos state governor, has not attended recent APC gatherings, the most recent being Thursday’s campaign rally in Ondo State ahead of the November 26 election.
