Protest follows Ondo state governorship election

Following the announcement of the just concluded Ondo state governorship election, report has  it that the people of Ondo state and staunch supports of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede have all resorted to a very serious mass protests against the manner in which the election was conducted that declared the All Progressive candidate winner.

The  Returning Officer, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin declared Akerodolu the winner of the election with a total vote of of 244,842.

According to the result released by INEC the PDP candidate came second with 150,380 votes; the Alliance for Democracy candidate, Chief Olusola Oke polled 126, 889 and the the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Olu Agunloye scored  a total of 10,147 votes.

Fadaka, who communicated his disappointment with the procedure while talking in a meeting with journalists Immediately after Akeredolu was proclaimed the victor said the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Federal Government customized and outlined the election to make the PDP competitor, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede to fall flat.

He blamed the FG for opening its vault for the APC candidate which he said prompted to instigating votes with as much as N5,000 per vote in many polling units.

He also expressed that the INEC hurried the election regardless of the way that they had up to January 27 to direct it.

Notwithstanding, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, precluded the affirmation from claiming joint effort with the FG to control the procedure for the APC candidate.


The REC, who portrayed the affirmation as an unwarranted one said the constituent body made a careful showing with regards to.
