A 30-year-old woman has been apprehended by the National
Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in an attempt to smuggle cocaine in the Nigeria
through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.
The suspect whose name was not unveiled, was found amid the
internal screening of travellers on a South African Airways flight. The
presumed white fine substance tried positive for cocaine with a gross weight of
535 grams.
During investigation, the suspect admitted to the crime and
confessed that she was guaranteed N1m to traffic the cocaine to Nigeria, saying
she got included in the arrangement since she required the cash.
NDLEA officer at the Lagos air terminal, Ahmadu Garba said
the occurrence is being researched and that the suspect would soon be charged
to court.
NDLEA representative, Ofoyeju Mitchell, cited the
Chairman/Chief Executive of the Agency, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (retd)
of vowing that the organization would discover more concealed drugs and indict
guilty parties.
