A man who made donations to Salvation Army has been arrested
after one a bag he donated to the organisation was found with a picture of him
raping a toddler.
The man who identity is given as Gary Sovie, 49, was
sentenced to 17 years in prison, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
According to the mother of the girl, the photos were from
1999, when her daughter was between 16 and 18 months old, she told the court.
It was through pay counterfoils and mail found inside the
tote that the authorities through help of the police was able to trace the bag
to Mr Sovie which the Salvation Army worker gave to them.
"I'm a very sick person," Sovie admitted to
detectives.
Sovie later admitted to the crime and pleaded guilty in
Franklin County Common Pleas Court to one count each of rape and pandering s*xually
oriented matter involving a minor.
Judge Julie M. Lynch described Sovie's actions as being
"the bottom of the barrel for a human being.
"[The attorneys] told me this case would make me sick,
and you're right."
Sovie was also fined $35,000 for each offence.
