The spokesman
of the Lagos State University, Mr Adekoya Martins has told journalists that the
university has received the approved merit list for the 2016/2017 admission of
the University by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday.
Though the
number of successful candidates were made known by him, the National University
Commission (NUC) admission quarter for LASU is 8000 candidates.
“The
vice-chancellor had said that the university could not admit more than 5,500
new students to avoid stretching the facilities on ground,’’ he said.
Accordingly,
Mr Martins has urged all candidates who chose LASU as their first choice to log
on to the online portal to confirm their status.
For those who
made the university their second choice, he said their screening process would
commence soon. Stating that it was late release of the merit list that has
restrained them from conducting the screening for the second choice candidates
Furthermore,
Martins adjured the first choice candidates who could not make the merit list
not to give up, as some of them may still be admitted either in the second or
supplementary list. And that all those first choice candidates that missed the
screening test are free to apply for it at the institution for the second
choice.
Though JAMB
suggested the screening form to be pegged at N2, 500, the university still went
on to sell it at the rate of N5, 000.
