Six-year-old Kutlwano Garespe was gruesomely stabbed to
death in his attempt to protect his beloved mother from being raped in Northern
Cape, South Africa.
It was on his way to school that the assailants appeared
from nowhere to grab his mum’s shoulder forcing her to give him some money.
IOL News report stated that Kutlwano and his 8-year-old
brother, Thabiso, saw the wicked attack.
"Thabiso was scared but Kutlwano kept on defending
me," Segomotso said. "I could feel that the man was pulling up my
skirt with his other hand and realised that he wanted to rape me in front of my
children."
The heroic six-year-old apparently kicked and slapped the unidentified
assailant, yelling: "Let go of my mummy, it is my mummy."
After Segomotso successfully kicked the rapist off her, he
turned his attention to Kutlwano. He then threw him into the air, strangled
him, and then stabbed him with a broken bottle.
According to the mum: "I heard my child crying out for
me and I saw him trying to defend himself with his hands. The man just kept on
stabbing him.
"I felt helpless and ran to the main road in an attempt
to find help... all the cars just drove past as I cried and screamed that a man
is killing my child.
"I ran back and could still hear Kutlwano calling me.
When I got closer, I saw that he was now stabbing my son with a stick. I was
screaming and felt so helpless."
The assailant escapted after leaving Kutlwano's body on a
nearby railway track. But was later caught by local police, and has been
charged with the murder of a six-year-old boy.
Residents are planning to stage a protest outside the jail
to make sure the 32-year-old attacker is not granted bail.
This is unquestionably horrible. RIP Kutlwano.
