More drama as a Federal Court of Appeal sitting Abuja
reinstates the Governor of Abia State, Governor Victor Okezie Ikeazu after he
was sacked by a Federal High Court which also sitting in the FCT.
Earlier on, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court,
Abuja passed a judgment nullifying Governor Ikpeazu’s election on the basis
that the governor allegedly made falsified tax documents which he submitted to
the Independent Electoral Commission INEC. The suit was filed by Sampson Ogah
and Obasi Ekeagbala.
However, Justice Helen Moronkeji Ogunwumiju who heads a
five-man bench of the Court of Appeal over ruled the previous two judgments passed
by Justice Abang stating that the basis on which the judgment was passed were
wrong.
Thus, the appellate court overturned all the orders he made,
including Ikpeazu’s sack and the issuance of Certificate of Return to Ogah by
INEC.
