A 61-year-old Choy Sin-hung who stabbed his autistic son to
death has been sentenced to a four year prison term after pleading guilty for
manslaughter. According to report, the man stabbed his son for about a hundred
times in 2014.
Sources said the court heard that Choy had been taking care
of the 15-year-old alone in order to enable his wife go to work.
However, a complaint came from his teacher that the victim
had been hitting people in school. The Autistic boy who also suffered
hyperactivity, hit his father after they got home, his action made his younger
brother scared and later left home.
It was reported that the Judge said, it was as a result
excessive stressed that the father decided to kill the boy, and was also
planning to commit suicide before the police got him arrested.
While passing sentence, Madam Justice Maggie Poon said the
tragic case meant Choy will live in pain for the rest of his life.
The judge also noted that the defendant had previously
suffered from depression. She said Choy had never hit his son in the past, and
had simply lost his mind when he committed the offense.
The judge also said the defendant had sacrificed himself in
order to make his wife and their younger
son live normal lives.
She said the defendant is not a major threat to society,
because his psychological report says it’s unlikely he will re-offend. -
