British Prime Minister, Theresa May will make her first trip
outside England as PM to Scotland today. The objective of the trip is to
demonstrate her commitment to what she called the “precious, precious” union
with Nicola Sturgeon in Edinburgh.
This trip is coming 48 hours after she vowed to lead a “one
nation” government while recognising the challenge she faces in keeping the
United Kingdom together.
During her visit, the PM is expected to say how she want
Scotland to play a major role in the Brexit negotiation with the EU.
The high profile visit to the Scottish capital, her first
official engagement, comes the day after Philip Hammond delivered a blow to Ms
Sturgeon’s bid to keep Scotland in the Europe.
