RONALDO SET TO WIN BALLON D'OR PRIZE


Cristian Ronald set to be named the World Player of the year as he leads other contenders.

The 31 year old Portuguese captain won the 2016 European Championship with his country last week, about 6 weeks after winning the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, who has scaled through all the hurdles, is hoping to claim the Ballon D’or award for the fourth time ahead of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

Griezmann lost the Euro 2016 final to Ronaldo, admitted that “For the Ballon D’or, it is all over, Ronaldo won the two big competitions this season”.

The French forward also took part in the Atletico Madrid team that lost to Real in the Champions League final in May.


Messi on his part, failed to aid his country Argentina win this year’s Copa America, however, he won the La Liga with Barcelona, but his team-mate Luis Suarez missed the Centenario as a result of injury.
