ONE STATE, TWO GOVERNORS

Ikpeazu and Ogah

After receiving his certificate of return, the newly appointed ‘governor of Abia State’ Sampson Ogah has gone underground while awaiting his swearing-in.

He arrived Umuahia with an expectation to be sworn in as the governor of the state, but was disappointed as the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, refused to vacate the seat, stressing that the judgment had been appealed.

During a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Friday, Mr. Ogah’s media aide, Peter Kalu, stated that his boss decided to go hide in an unknown place in order to avoid any attack.

Mr. Kalu said his boss had received series of threats and that Mr. Ogah will continue to be in his hideout as he awaits the emergence of the State Chief Judge, Theresa Uzoukwu, who had also not been seen since Thursday.

The Chief Judge is also believed to be hiding in an unknown location outside the State Capital due to too much pressure on her to swear-in Mr. Ogah.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kalu stated that Mr. Ogah’s legal team were presently working out modalities to ensure his swearing-in with the ambit of the law, if the Chief Judge refuses remained in hiding beyond a reasonable period of time.
