All regions in Nigeria are beginning to have a feel of the evil seed of corruption and insincerity sowed by our past leaders towards the younger generation as Militancy in the Niger Delta is gradually spreading like a wild fire to the South-West. The oil and gas companies on their part have also failed the people for not taking their corporate social responsibilities seriously by meaningfully engaging the youths of the region, as it is done in civilised society where similar resources are found.
Thus, this group of militants seem to have successfully
pitched tents in some parts of Yorubaland, which have enabled them to
successfully operate and invade communities in the South-West region unhindered.
According to information reaching us today, over six
policemen were said to have lost their lives today in Adaxson community on
Liasu Road in Lagos State, when some suspected militants attacked the place
earlier today (Tuesday).
As reported, the group launched an attack on a patrol
vehicle, after which soldiers were sent to the scene, which led to serious gun
duel between them and the militants.
When the boys could not withstand the soldiers, they
retreated to the Creek in Ignado, where another fight began between them and
another militant group which entered into a deal with them.
But sources revealed that one of the militant carted away their
spoils which resulted to the infighting.
However, luck was against him, as he was later traced to the
Igando Creek, where they entered into the deal and money paid.
But before the others could get to Igando, he had fled,
leading to an attack on his godfather.
Nevertheless, the militant’s godfather and a Mobile Police
man who was attached to him were killed.
From the information available, one wonders how a member of
the Nigerian Police, could be attached to such a person, yet the government of
the day keeps saying they are committed to their fight against these group of
people.
