A National Youth Corps member whose name is given as
Bonaventure Okeke has been charged in a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja for
supposedly committing adultery.
He was on Monday docked on a one-count charge of committing
adultery with a married woman named Anozie Chinenye.
The woman’s husband Emeka Anozie, made a direct criminal
complaint to the court against the defendant (corps member) on March 24, via
his counsel, Obioma Achilefu.
According to the husband, the corps member knowing fully
well that he was legally married to Chinenye, committed the act with her on
December 18 2014.
He went on to narrate that the young man was confronted on
the matter via the phone and owned up to have had sex with Chinenye once.
However, with all the warning given to him, he refused to
stay away from his wife and continued with the act.
And that the young man gave transport money to his who
schools in Anambra to visit him on August 18 2015 which she did.
According to Anozie (the legal husband), the corper lived
with his wife (Mrs. Anozie) till August 28.
He further stressed that the young man continued to commit
adultery with Chinenye in spite his warnings, adding that the act wounded his
“heart beyond measure”.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence which
contravened Section 387 of the Penal Code Cap 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria,
1963.
The defendant was later granted bail in the sum of N100,000
and one surety in like sum by the Judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, and adjourned the
case till August 30 for further hearing.
