Senator Makarfi reveals agreement reached with Senator Sheriff

Ahmed Makarfi

In order to clear the air concerning the Governing Dickson’s led reconciliation committee meeting held to proffer a lasting solution to the lingering tussle between Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi, the latter has come out to say that the agreement him and Sheriff entered into was that both parties agreed to not to engage in any public or media war.

According to Prince Dayo Adeyeye while speaking on behalf of Markafi stated that the faction only agreed before the Governor Dickson’s reconciliation committee to “stop further media attacks on officers, elders and other stakeholders of the PDP across the internal political divide.”

He added: “For the record, the agreement was not a political solution but rather an understanding reached urging representatives of ‘the key actors’ from both groups not to dissipate energy amongst themselves but to focus on how to unite as a formidable force capable of re-gaining power from the failed All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government in the 2019.

“The agreement also implores both parties to desist from making public derogatory remarks against each other that could cause inflammatory reactions capable of dragging the party to the mud.”

He further stated that the national caretaker committee and all the structures of the party were working with the reconciliation committee to reach a permanent political solution.

The four point media hostilities cessation agreement demands that “all actors of the parties should desist from making derogatory, inflammatory and divisive statements against party officials, stakeholders and members.”

It also said: “all key actors in the on-going peace process should henceforth desist from making public statements attacking each other and statements insinuating negative acts capable of dragging the party to the mud.”

More troubles for Nnamdi Kanu, as Justice Binta Nyako denies him bail

Nnamdi Kanu

Today’s ruling by the an Abuja High Court comes as a surprise to many who had hoped earlier that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) would be granted bail after local and international human rights groups condemned the manner in which the Buhari led government is handling the matter.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday (today) prevented leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, bail.

According to Justice Binta Nyako the offenses Kanu and others were standing trial for were not by any stretch of the imagination bailable.

She said the charge of treasonable felony they are confronting draws in a lifelong incarceration.

She thus denied all the suspects bail on the grounds that their case was touchy to national security.

Review that Kanu, close by Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, were re-summoned by the Federal Government on 11 count charge verging on psychological oppression, treasonable lawful offense and production of defamatory matter.

Justice Nyako as of late assumed control over the trial of Kanu taking after the withdrawal of the previous trial judge, Justice John Tsoho over claim of predisposition leveled against him by the safeguard group of the ace Biafra agitator.

Taking after his re-arraignment before justice Nyako of a similar court, the imprisoned IPOB pioneer via his legal team, had recorded an application for bail November 8.

Against the background of the application, the new trial judge had settled today, for thought of the application.

Donald Trump should be wary of Buhari and Obasanjo's offer to work with him

Obasanjo and Buhari

Wonders shall never end! Imagine former President Obasanjo whose eight-year reign in power made political assassination almost a daily affair that brought about the so called ‘CARRY GO’ slogan in the Nigerian political arena assuring to Donal Trump of a “fairer world” especially for Nigeria.

The hands of the purported fellowship being extended by Muhammadu Buhari and Obasanjo can be likened to the deceitful goodwill message King Herod sent when Jesus Christ was born. But God through His divine intervention saved him when the three wise men were instructed not to go back to Herod.

In a three paragraph letter, the former President said,“I felicitate with you, your family and everybody in your camp and your campaign for winning the presidential elections to become the 45th president of the United States of America.

“Let me assure you that most of us in Africa who believe in equitability in the global affairs will work with you for a fairer world and more so, those of us in Nigeria.

“While congratulating you once again, please accept the assurances of my highest consideration.”

Confusion as the Nigerian Army deny any knowledge of the release of 21 Chibok School Girls

Army denies knowledge of release of Chibok girls

Though the general public from within and outside Nigeria received the news of the purported released of the 21 kidnapped Chibok school girls.

However, people are beginning to have a mixed feeling about the authenticity of the kidnap and release of these girls, as the Nigeria’s military has come out to deny any knowledge of the released of the twenty one Chibok school girls by the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday.

Although the Defence Headquarters while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) stated on Thursday that it is carrying out “serious operations to rescue them and other Nigerians in Boko Haram captivity.”

The DHQ said: “Military is unaware of the release of some Chibok Girls but serious operations are on to rescue them and other Nigerians in Boko Haram’s captivity – DHQ.”

On the other hand, the Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu in his press release affirmed the recent release of the said girls who were among the over 200 kidnapped in April 2014, as they are were in the hands of the DSS.

Garba said this in a statement released Thursday, “It is confirmed that 21 of the missing Chibok Girls have been released and are in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. The Director-General of the DSS, Malam Lawal Daura has just briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the matter.”

Shehu further said: “The release of the girls, in a limited number, is the outcome of negotiations between the administration and Boko Haram, brokered by the International Red Cross and the Swiss government. The negotiations will continue.”

When will President Buhari accept full responsibility for his failures and misdeeds?

Obama and Buhari

With news going round that the president has given a marching order for those who wrote the speech he read strongly signifies that he is not a reading president and that from his campaign to to date, none of his speeches were written by him.

That is to say that even the so called media aids surrounding him including his Information Minister don’t know their left to their right, they are only good at accusing every ‘Tom-Dick and Harry’ for all their failures.

The question being asked by Nigerians is ‘when will President Buhari accept responsibility for all his misdeed? When budget padding saga came up, he out rightly denied it and shifted blames to other people, when he plagiarised the speeches of other world leaders which he read to the world, he also denied it.

Could this be a pointer that his certificate is really questionable?

Read below full details of the order given by Buhari as he pushes the blame of his intellectual crime to members of his kitchen cabinet:

“The Presidency has issued the statement below admitting that the speech read by President Muhammadu Buhari contained insertions plagiarised from a 2008 speech by U.S. President, Barack Obama.”

“A statement by a presidency spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said an investigation had been launched into the matter and that officials so far identified to have committed the blunder would be punished.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that prompt and appropriate disciplinary action be taken against those responsible for a wrongful insertion in his speech delivered on September 8, 2016 at the launch of the “Change Begins with Me’’ campaign.”

“It was observed that the similarities between a paragraph in President Obama’s 2008 Victory Speech and what President Buhari read in paragraph nine of the sixteen-paragraph address while inaugurating the Campaign on Thursday, September 8, 2016 are too close to be passed as coincidence.”

“There was a mistake by an overzealous staff and we regret that this has happened.”

“Already, a Deputy Director in the Presidency has accepted responsibility for the insertion of the contentious paragraph.”

“This serious oversight will be investigated thoroughly and appropriate sanction meted.”

“The Presidency wishes to state in the clearest possible terms that it regrets this unfortunate incident and will ensure that this does not happen again.”

“President Buhari urges Nigerians to look beyond this incident and focus on the message of change which the country needs in order to restore our cherished value systems.”

More hardship to be inflicted on Nigerians in this period of recession, as the political witch-hunt of the Buhari's government take a new twist

Buhari and Jonathan

The current political witch-hunt might have taken a new twist as the Buhari led federal government is now resorting to inflict more pains in this period of economic recession on innocent Nigerians who were employed by the immediate past government led by ex-president Jonathan.

To this end, there are signs that more than 4,904 government employees, who were enrolled by the Federal Civil Service Commission under the administration of previous President Goodluck Jonathan, may lose their occupations as Federal Character Commission has questioned the activity that introduced in.

It was assembled that moves by the Federal Civil Service Commission to sack the affected workders had started genuine challenge in the civil service.

No less than 247 of the workers affected are said to have requested of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offenses Commission over an arrangement by the FCSC to sack them.

The Temporary Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Dr. Shettima Abba, had questioned the Chairman of the FCSC, Mrs. Joan Ayo, for claimed infringement of the standard of federal character in the engagement of the workers in a letter dated May 3, 2016.

According to him the enlistment, which occurred somewhere around 2013 and 2015, was described by an outrageous misuse of the Federal Character standard.

He brought up that the South-South got 33.6% of those employed as against the 26.2% allocated to candidates from the North-East, North-West and North-Central geopolitical zones.

Abba expressed, “The Federal Character Commission has viewed and observed with concern the recruitment exercises undertaken by the Federal Civil Service between 2013 and 2015, which glaringly is lopsided and grossly abused the principle of Federal Character to which all institution have subscribed.

“The recruitment which recorded the engagement of about 4,904 workers, threw away all common sense and wisdom of national cohesion and integration by favouring some states to the detriment of others.

“We are worried that if this trend is allowed to continue, then some sections of the country may not only feel alienated but may feel insecure by the action of people in authority.

“It is inconceivable and a gross injustice for a geopolitical zone to be allocated 33.6 per cent of the total candidates recruited as against 26.2 per cent for three zones combined, North-East, North-West and North-Central.

“We further request without prejudice that all processes must involve the Federal Character Commission for advice and strict adherence to the principle of federal character as contained in our circular on guidelines and procedure for recruitment.”

Responding, be that as it may, representative for the FCSC, Dr. Abel Oruche,‎ said just those employed through the back door would be expelled.

He expressed, “I’m not aware that anybody was interrogated by the ICPC or whether the chairman was invited. Nobody interrogated the chairman of the FCSC, any commissioner or any official.‎

“The press statement we sent was not reactive, but to explain to people what we have done and what we are doing to avoid rumour or insinuations.

“It is an ongoing audit to make sure that all those people, who were employed irregularly without existing vacancies, are removed. We didn’t issue the statement because somebody called us,” in a statement he made to the Punch.
